DeAgostini Millennium Falcon Model Re-build Dairy - Part 2

Image
I started the project with the cockpit. I dismantled everything and clean them one by one. It looks like new now 😊

DeAgostini Millennium Falcon Model Re-build Dairy - Part 1

Image
I was asked to rebuild this DeAgostini MillenniumFalcon. This is an abandoned project that was assembled halfway and then stalled. At that time, my friend was assembling it at my place until the pandemic hit. Everything comes to a standstill. Many things have changed over the years, and this model has not continued.

Millennium Falcon Build Diary - Part 8 - Add details to the entrance wall

Image
In this build I will add more details on the entrance wall. The parts (for detailing) provided by DeAgostini are very minimum and this makes the entrance wall far less detail compare to the movie.

Millennium Falcon Build Diary - Part 7 - Finishing Cockpit Interior

Image
In this build I'm finishing the cockpit interior lighting system. Above photo show before (right) and after (left) modification is done.

Millennium Falcon Build Diary - Part 6 - Cockpit lighting and side console

Today I continue with my DeAgostini Millennium Falcon build. More painting and lighting on the cockpit itself. Above are the parts received from Issue #6.

Millennium Falcon Build Diary - Part 5 - Front control panel lighting

Image
In this build, I'll start to install lighting system to the front control panel. As the front control panel doesn't come with a hole for the monitor, I cut a hole to let the light to shine through.

Millennium Falcon Build Diary - Part 4 - Painting Cockpit components

Image
Quite a lot of work being done so far on the cockpit. I started to paint the cockpit components to match with the movie. There will be a LED light right behind the instrumental panel and there are cutouts on the instrumental panel for the light to shine through. I haven't receive the model LED light yet so I tested it by putting it in front of a normal light source. It's looks very plain and most of the color turn white.

Millennium Falcon Build Diary - Part 3 - Partial Framework Assembly

Image
I ordered extra material and tools for the cockpit, while waiting those material arrive, I jump to work on the MF framework today, base on the parts I got from Issue #1~#4. Basically the whole MF chassis will be made by metal and I'll need to assemble it piece by piece.

Millennium Falcon Build Dairy - Part 2 - Cockpit fitting

Image
Based on the parts I got from issue #1~#3, I'll start with something easy first. 😁 Examine the position before stick the instrumental sticker onto the cockpit bulkhead.

DeAgostini Millennium Falcon Model Build Diary - Part 1

Image
I decided to build the 1/43 Millennium Falcon model from DeAgostini. As all parts will come together with the magazine weekly, this will be a long journey for the entire build. I'll use this blog as the dairy of the building process of the model. I started to receive issue#1~4 last week. Besides the magazine and assembly guides, these are the parts in each issue. Even the model is pre-painted and weathered, I may add in more weathering effect to make it more realistic. Issue #1 Includes: Cockpit Instrument panel sticker, cockpit bulkhead, cockpit base, laser cannon barrels (upper & lower), mounting plate (left & right), mounting yoke, fixing screws, hull plating, a screwdriver and a 1:1 Falcon Model Blueprint.
